The Mission RIG headset is a traditional, non-integrated system designed for frames where the bearing cups need to be pressed into the head tube. It’s not the most modern solution, but it’s a proven, durable setup that works reliably when properly installed.
The forged chromoly cups form the foundation, offering better resistance to stress and deformation compared to cheaper materials. The caged ball bearing system is a classic approach, easy to service and re-grease when needed, making maintenance straightforward.
The set includes a star nut and top cap, so you have everything required to properly preload the fork. Once dialed in, it stays tight and doesn’t tend to come loose under normal use if assembled correctly.
This is a no-nonsense headset that focuses on function over flash. You install it, set it up, and it simply does its job.
